‘Give it a Go’ proving to be successful

BANBRIDGE District Council have said people in the district are already enjoying the healthy living initiative ‘Give it a Go!’, helping them get active, eat well and feel good.

The ‘Give it a Go!’ programme of events has been a big hit so far with people of all ages participating in the free events and activities such as supermarket tours to learn about healthy food, walks and teen gym taster sessions.

One of the major events taking place is the 31K walk/run organised for every evening in Warrenpoint throughout March.

Speaking at the first of these, one enthusiastic participant called Patricia commented: “I thought the walk was a great way to get out in the fresh air, meet new people and ultimately get active. It was good to have the option of a shorter walk, as I am just starting out getting fit, so I can eventually build myself up to walking the 5k or even 10k walk when I’m ready. As it will be running every evening, it is easy to pick and choose which days to go.”

While many events are already under way, there’s still time to take advantage of this great opportunity to try something new and exciting by checking the ‘Give it a Go!’ brochures which have been distributed throughout the area or by visiting www.giveitago.org.uk for the latest free events in your area. Places are filling up fast, so there is no time like the present to try ‘Give it a Go!’.

Also, don’t forget, during March you can swim at your local leisure centre for just £1 during public swim times, and remember to fill in your evaluation form at all events you attend to be in with a chance of winning a great prize.
