Glenarm has a new post box

THE installation of a new post box in Glenarm has been described as a “small victory” for the village.

The post office closed in 2009 and last autumn the only post box in the village was removed from the premises, at the request of the owner. Since then, Larne council has been lobbying for provision.

A new post box has now been sited on Altmore Street and SDLP councillor Danny O’Connor said he was “glad to see common sense prevail”.

He added: “Glenarm residents will no longer have to travel to Carnlough just to post a letter. Many people in the Glens feel that the world stops at Ballygally and that no one really cares about them, so this represents a small victory for the people of Glenarm.”

Alliance councillor Gerardine Mulvenna said the return of a post box was “great news” for the village and added that it would make life “a lot easier” for many residents.
