Glenarm WI welcomes historian

Glenarm WI held a beetle drive at its February meeting.

Members welcomed Lisa Smith, daughter-in-law of member Bertina Smith.

The top prize was won by Rosaleen Meban who also won the monthly competition.

The December meeting was a Christmas party. The ladies enjoyed a festive feast. Games of ‘Pass the Parcel’ combined with background music provided a joyous atmosphere.

The monthly competition winner was Maureen Morrow.

The Christmas song quiz prepared by Tina Smith sold out. The winners were: first, Pat Mulvenna; second, Mrs Bradley.

The guest speaker at January’s meeting was Mrs. Lorna Shannon who demonstrated spinning wool from her sheep,w eaving, dying, knitted into rugs and garments.

Mrs. Shannon judged the monthly competition. The winner was Edna McAllister. Edna was quizmaster the evening as the ladies picked their team for the Inver Area quiz final. They are Maureen, Pat and Julie.

Treasurer Doris Morrow announced the total raised at the playgroup fair and sale of the Christmas quiz.

The ladies were preparing to welcome guest speaker Ian Bradley to the March meeting.

He was due to speak on the history of Glenarm.

Glenarm WI meets on the second Monday of each month at Glenarm Baptist Church Hall, from 8.00 pm until 10.00 pm.
