Glengormley artist inspired by political life

Glengormley-based Lise McGreevy recently visited Stormont where she handed over two of her creations to First Minister Arlene Foster and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness.

Lise presented a piece entitled ‘New Dawn’ to Mrs Foster, and a work called ‘Power Foundations’ to Mr McGuinness, at the launch of her latest Belfast-themed exhibitions, Psychedelic Hitchcock Belfast, at Parliament Buildings.

The works were designed by Lise in celebration of ‘Stormont 2016: a year showing how far the Northern Ireland political process has come’.

“Just over two months in and 2016 is already proving to be an historical year for local politics. Not only are our leading parties sitting side by side and working together at Parliament Buildings, but January also marked Arlene Foster’s appointment as the first female First Minister of Northern Ireland,” Lise said.

The Glengormley artist has also completed two other works which she is hoping to hand over to the Prime Minister and the Irish Taoiseach.

“I have used Parliament Buildings as my muse for all four artworks, as it is the core location for political power in Northern Ireland. I hope to present pieces to David Cameron and the Taoiseach to mark the invaluable contributions made by both the Irish and UK parliaments in helping to bring peace to Northern Ireland,” she added.
