The Miss Winter Wonderland show is an annual event organised by the Northern Ireland School of Modelling, with children, teen and adult title divisions.

Eímear’s mother Stephanie told The Times that the competition had been the first time her daughter had ever taken part in a modelling show. She revealed: “Eímear had to model two outfits, a day and evening outfit, before a panel of six or seven judges from the modelling world. There was stiff competition as there were 25 girls taking part from around Northern Ireland so she did well.

“We were delighted as other girls had a lot of experience.”

Eímear’s mother says her daugther’s enthusiasm for dance was a useful experience in preparing for the competition.

She continued: “She has been doing ballet from the age of three and has done her exams so she is used to being judged and assessed, although she was still nervous. It was a new experience.”

In two months the mother and daughter will enjoy a four-day break to a Greek Island where Eímear will star in a fasion shoot, to appear in a magazine.

Stephanie says it is still too early for her daughter to decide on a career in the fashion industry, and that for the moment she is “really into dance.” The proud mum continued: “She loves ballet, cheerleading, gymnastics. It’s another string to her bow but we’re not taking it seriously as she’s only 12. We can only be supportive, we wouldn’t push her into anything. She’s very determined, if she wants to have a go or if she wants to go to college we will support her.”
