Glens councillor concerned about hospital changes

MOYLE Council has written to health chiefs for clarification after Cushendall Sinn Fein councillor Oliver McMullan said many people from the Glens area are now being referred on to Coleraine Hospital or even Altnagelvin instead of Antrim Hospital.

He said he believed it was an attempt to take the pressure off Antrim Hospital which has been busier since changes to the Mid-Ulster Hospital and Whiteabbey Hospitals.

Cllr McMullan is also concerned at the “domino-effect” on the Glens of ambulance provision being changed in the Larne area.

The councillor added: “We cannot be left in a vacuum here because of cuts to frontline services”.

A letter is also to be written to call for no interference with ambulance provision in Larne.
