Gobbins land deal agreed

LARNE Borough Council has sanctioned the purchase of property required for the £6 million Gobbins path scheme, which is due to commence this autumn.

Minutes of a confidential debate, held in camera at Smiley Buildings on May 21, record a resolution approving purchase of the land to enable the project to move forward. Neither the vendor nor the sale price is reported in the official record. The Larne Times understands both details are subject to a confidentiality clause in the contract and have been withheld by the council. The minutes refer to the vendor only as Party A.

It is reported that the purchase price “reflected the effect of the proposed scheme on the remainder of Party A’s property” and that the council would pay “all reasonable legal costs in connection with the transaction”.
