Going for lost keys leads to court

A WOMAN, who was said by her solicitor to be on her way help a friend find keys, has lost her licence for a year.

Mavis Edgar (38), of Bravallen Road, Ballymoney, was also fined 200 at Magherafelt Magistrates Court for driving while having consumed excess alcohol.

A PPS lawyer said on July 31 this year the police observed a car coming down the Moneymore Road, Magherafelt, faster than it should and failing to indicate at the roundabouts.

She said police stopped the vehicle at King Street and stop to Edgar who became aggressive towards officers.

The defendant failed a preliminary breath test and was taken to Magherafelt custody suite where she gave a breath specimen, which showed a reading of 63mcgs.

A defence solicitor explained that Edgar had a couple of cans of beer before going to a friend who had lost keys to the house.

He pointed out that she was under considerable stress at the time as she had recently split with her partner.
