GolF Clubs’ could ‘buggy’ on down if they ‘think Pink!’

LOCAL golf clubs are being called on by Action Cancer to ‘Think Pink’ to be in with the chance of scoring a unique pink golf buggy.

Action Cancer is encouraging club captains to organise events before August to raise funds for the only charity in Northern Ireland providing breast screening for women aged 40–49 and over 70.

Any club that reaches the £500 target will be entered into a draw to win the striking pink Yahama golf buggy, generously donated by Wilsons of Rathkenny.

A few example fundraising ideas are; a Pink Putt competition, a Captain’s Day raffle, A Girly ‘pink’ night, Ladies Day, Sponsored Longest Drive at the range … the options are endless!

Gillian Thomson, Fundraising Events Officer from Action Cancer said: “This is such a fitting incentive for local golf clubs to get involved and fundraise for Action Cancer, especially with the Irish Open happening this month.

“We’re delighted to be the recipients of such a unique prize, so generously donated by Wilsons of Rathkenny. Without the continued support of local clubs, we could not continue to offer our lifesaving breast screening services.”

Andrew Dickinson, Marketing Manager at Wilson’s of Rathkenny added: ‘We decided that by spraying the Yamaha golf buggy pink it could be used to benefit a local cancer charity, and as Action Cancer is the only charity in Northern Ireland to offer a breast screening service we felt that it was a perfect fit!’

Fundraising packs will be sent out to all those taking part and Action Cancer’s events team is available to offer support to all fundraisers and attend cheque presentations.

The winners will be selected at a draw which will take place at Wilson’s of Rathkenny, Ballymena at the end of August 2012, and all money raised from this event will go towards Action Cancer’s early detection and breast screening services.
