Good turn out for Outreach Group meeting

THERE was an excellent turn out for the latest meeting of the Community Outreach Group at the Jethro Centre.

An appreciative audience heard Dr Finbar McCormick’s comprehensive appraisal of the impact made by the Vikings in Ireland, affording a further opportunity to explore how the history of this country has been shaped by many diverse influences and to realise how knowledge of the past can inform the future.

The programme of outreach in the community continues at 8pm on Thursday, February 21, in St Peter’s Parish Centre when there will be two speakers.

Sister Elise Gorman and the Rev Elizabeth Harron will share their accounts of their work and experience both at home and further afield in Africa and America.

Sister Elise, a member of a Franciscan order, is on full-time attachment to St Paul’s Parish and Elizabeth, a retired Methodist minister, is also actively involved in many aspects of Christian service in Lurgan.

It will be a personal and first-hand account of their calling in a presentation entitled ‘Women on a Mission’ which will interest, inform and even challenge those present.

Admission to all Outreach Group meetings is free and people of all persuasions are welcome.
