Good weather for Lady Captain's Day

THE LADY Captain of Galgorm ladies golf club Heather Stafford hosted a very successful Captain's day on Friday.

With the course in top condition and the weather reasonably good there was no excuse for bad golf. The majority of the lady members took part as well as ladies from other clubs invited by the captain.

The Lady Captain's prize was won by Kerry Dunlop with 43 points, June Irvine won section A with 39 points and Hazel Cunning was runner up with 36 points. Section B was won by Caroline Speers with 40 points, Julie-Ann Kyle was runner up with 38 points.

The gross prize was won by Pauline Thom and the committee prize was won by |Angela Graham.

Jessie Hughes won the past captain's prize with 32 points.Alison Kearney won the better front nine with 19 points and Noreen Ritchie won the better back nine with 20 points. The longest drive at the eighteenth hole was won by Caroline Speers and Jean Bowens won closest to the pin at the fourteenth hole. The sixteen hole competition was won by a new junior member Jenny McCooke with 33 points.

The visitor's prize was won by Margaret Logan from Ballymena Golf Club. Stephen McCooke was the winner of the men's nine hole competition held in the evening with 23 points, David Murray was runner up with 20 points.

The next event the ladies will be hosting is an open competition team of 3 on the July 1 all ladies are invited, tee times can be booked through the pro shop.
