'Good work being done on services for older people'

THE Northern Health and Social Care Trust has outlined its progress on strategies to support older people.

The ‘Living Well, Aging Better’ project aims to promote a positive approach to aging and support independence and to develop personal care and support services for those with complex health needs.

The ‘Adding Life to Years’ initiative, also part of the Trust’s response to the needs of older people, was developed specifically to look at mental health services for older people.

Joan Cosgrove of the Northern Trust Older People’s Panel, said progress had been made on the important strategies.

“The Older People’s panel has given a voice to people who use Trust services,” she said. “All of these developments have been delivered in consultation with representatives of those who actually use the service.

“A great deal of good work has been done, but there is certainly more to do. The Panel looks forward to assisting and guiding future developments in partnership with the Northern Trust.”
