Gordons Chemists donates baby vaccines*HEADLINE TO G0 HERE

OVER 13,000 vaccines have been donated by Gordons Chemists customers for vulnerable babies, thanks to the people of Northern Ireland including customers from Coleraine, Portrush and Bushmills.

In total, 36,778,713 vaccines have been donated this year across the UK and Ireland from the Pampers UNICEF ‘1 pack = 1 vaccine’ campaign, which is now in its seventh year.

Usually one vaccine is donated from each specially-marked pack of Pampers sold. However, Gordons Chemists offers two vaccines for each pack, doubling the number of women and babies protected by the initiative.

Maternal and neonatal tetanus, a preventable disease that has been eliminated in Europe, still threatens the lives of almost 130 million women and their newborn children around the world – a figure that is 73 times the population of Northern Ireland.

Much work still needs to be done in order to vaccinate the 130 million women and their babies who are still at risk and ultimately reach the historic goal of eliminating this life-threatening disease from every corner of the globe.

Catherine McMahon of Pampers expressed her thanks to the people of Northern Ireland. “The contribution of all those who have supported this campaign has made a genuine difference to the mothers and babies threatened by this preventable disease. Gordons Chemists and their customers have played a big part in helping to save lives; the donation of 13,517 vaccines really is a testament to the generosity of the people of Northern Ireland.”
