INFORMATION is being sought by police investigating a suspected arson attack in the Munie Road area, outside Aughafatten, around 5pm on Friday, April 29.

Anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area at the time of the fire is asked to contact police in Ballymena on 0845 600 8000.

Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.

A police spokesperson said: “We thank the members of the public for their support and understanding so far and urge them to continue to assist us with as much information as they can.

“I would also appeal to those people who are causing the fires to think of their actions and the consequences involved which will most certainly include prosecution.

“It might seem fun and a bit of bravado to set a piece of gorse on fire, but with the current weather conditions a small fire can quickly get out of control; change direction and spread rapidly.”
