Government give green light for shared education in Ballycastle

North Antrim Sinn Féin MLA Daithí McKay has welcomed the announcement that funding for shared education facilities in Ballycastle has been given the green light by government.

He said: “I set up a meeting with the Education Minister to discuss this project 3 years ago and I remember well his enthusiasm even at that early stage for this project. It is great to see this capital investment finally being realised. Its great news for parents, pupils and staff alike at both Cross and Passion and Ballycastle High.

“Congratulations must be made to both post-primary schools and their management teams who have put so much hard work and effort into making this a reality.

“This is part of a half billion investment in schools across shared and integrated education which is a massive boost to both the construction industry and the local economy. This represents a huge investment in Ballycastle. I have always thought that this is an excellent location for a shared education facility like this and I have no doubt that both schools will make this project a great success.”
