Gracehill pond to get £42,000makeover

Gracehill’s historic central water feature is to get a £42,000 makeover.

Gracehill Old School Trust has been successful in securing £27,000 towards the second phase of their village renewal project which will enable them to fully restore the pond area in the middle of the village square.

The cash was secured from the NI Environment Agency Challenge Fund with the balance of £15,000 requested from Ballymena Borough Council which was agreed at committee level last Monday night.

Proposer, Cllr Jayne Dunlop described it as “a really exciting project”.

“It’s going to open up the square in Gracehill and enhance it as a tourist attraction,” said Ms Dunlop whose remarks were backed by Cllrs William McNeilly, Paul Maguire and Audrey Wales.
