Graffiti attack:Duddy defiant

In the early hours of Sunday morning, the home, at Drumaquill Road, belonging to Coleraine District Master George Duddy was sprayed with graffiti.

Mr Duddy, who is also a DUP councillor in Coleraine has described the attack as ‘sectarian intimidation’.

He said: “I am only one of a number of victims.

“This is the sixth attack of a similar nature.

“In each of these attacks flags have been taken, and a similar message has been left by those carrying out the crimes. To put it simply it is sectarian intimidation.”

Mr Duddy called on the police to be more pro-active in apprehending those responsible, he also called on Nationalist politicians to temper their comments in relation to flags during the marching season.

“These politicians are only fuelling tensions.

“I don’t hear them commenting on tricolours that fly in towns across East Londonderry,” said Mr Duddy.

Mr Duddy’s home was one of two attacked at the weekend. Another home at Blakes Road in Macosquin was targeted. The attack also involved graffiti being spray on a wall.

Police in Coleraine have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
