Grammar students rack up best results in the school’s history

Some 87 percent of the results achieved last week were in the upper grade range of A*-C, with 23 subjects receiving a 100 percent pass rate.

Principal Kieran Mulvenna said: “Modern Languages are performing extremely ell with straight A grades in French and 100 percent A-C in Spanish. The other Humanities subjects - Music, Art and Photography – also held their own with 85 percent gaining A or B grades whilst Business Studies produced higher results still with 86 percent of pupils gaining A*-B.”

High fliers in the outgoing Year 14 group included Sophie Robinson, Amy Seaman, Rebekah Picken, head boy Jordan McCullough, Connor Simms, Hayley McCullough, Kristen Beggs, Adam Edgar, Jamie Dale, Meghan Ingram and Alex Smyth who between them racked up a tally of 13 A*s, 16 As and 5 Bs.

“We wish all future success too to Anna Britain who will study Pharmacy at Queen’s University; Zoe Graham who begins her degree in Forensics; Emily Irvine, who will study Biological Sciences in Scotland, and Ryan Luney who embarks on a Psychology degree,” said Mr Mulvenna.

Bound for Queen’s University Belfast are Ben McBride (Chemical Engineering), Tayla Powell (Biochemistry), and Peter Shepherd, who will study History and Politics.

Continuing their studies at University of Ulster will be Jenna McElvogue, who will study Art and Design, and Emma Orr, who will begin a course in Occupational Therapy.
