Grant aid for good relations work

CRAIGAVON Borough Council's Development Department has awarded over £9,000 of vital good relations grants to community and voluntary groups throughout the borough.

The funding, issued through the Good Relations Small Grants Scheme, will help individual groups promote good relations throughout the Borough and champion equality, diversity and social inclusion.

It also aims to help make Craigavon an area where all people feel equally valued and diversity is celebrated.

Representatives from the various groups received their grant cheques from the Mayor of Craigavon, Alderman Stephen Moutray at a prestigious presentation ceremony in Craigavon Civic and Conference Centre.

Groups who have received assistance and support from the Council’s Development Department showcased their innovative work throughout the evening and had the opportunity to network with other groups and organisations. Attendees were also treated to a Portuguese musician on arrival and a spectacular Chinese lion dance performance.

In addition, the event provided an opportunity for Chair of the Development Committee, Alderman Sydney Anderson to present certificates to local community and voluntary group representatives who completed OCN Good Relations Training earlier this year.
