Grants for Gilford shop fronts

GRANTS are availabale for shop front improvements in Gilford and anyone interested in finding out more is invited to an information session organised by Banbridge District Council.

The event takes place at 12 noon on Thursday, 5 July, in Gilford Community Centre, and is open to all business owners who rent or own property in Gilford town centre.

Grants up to a maximum of £3,000 will be available to pay for a variety of works including refurbishment of existing ground floor business frontages, reinstatement of traditional or installation of new shop fronts, external decoration, signage, feature lighting and appropriate security measures. Applicants must be able to cover 50 per cent of the costs.

Council Director of Leisure and Development, Catriona Regan, encouraged local traders to attend and take advantage of the opportunity to upgrade their premises.

She said, “Shops and commercial premises in Gilford town centre play a vital role in ensuring the town maintains a vibrant and interesting range of economic activity.

“It is important to the town’s future development that property owners seize this opportunity to upgrade their premises.”
