Grants for Jubilee celebrations

To mark the sixtieth anniversary of the Queen’s accession to the throne, Banbridge District Council is offering small grants to help local communities organise their own celebratory event between June 1 and 5.

The Queen came to the throne on 6 February 1952 and her coronation took place on 2 June 1953. Official Diamond Jubilee celebrations will be held in all parts of the UK over an extended weekend in early June.

Local groups can now apply for a small grant towards the cost of organising a community festival or street party in their local area.

The grant will help cover the costs of running the event and could pay for items such as equipment hire, entertainment, face painters or music.

Only constituted groups can apply for a grant and all applications need to be submitted to the Council’s Leisure and Development Department by 12 noon on Thursday March 29.

For more information or to request a funding application pack, contact the Council’s Leisure and Development Department on 4066 0609.
