The event was launched by the Mayor of Lisburn City Council, Councillor Andrew Ewing and promising young athlete James MacSorley.

The Teenage Kicks Health Fair offers a unique opportunity to raise awareness for teenagers on a range of youth-related issues including self-esteem, health and well-being, exam pressure, sexual health, mental health, alcohol and drugs misuse, internet safety and health and beauty. The event provides relevant information, support and acts as a signposting opportunity to keep teenagers ‘in touch’ with the resources available to them.

Mr Ewing commented: “Libraries are the heart of our community and have something to offer for everyone, the Lisburn City Library is no different; how fitting for it to be the venue for the Teenage Kicks Health Fair. I hope everyone had an enjoyable day and I would like to thank Libraries NI, the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust, as well as my Council colleagues for inviting me to a worthwhile event held in our city.”

James MacSorley from Team GB Wheelchair Basketball Team showed his support for the event along with an impressive number of organisations offering information and advice to students, including PIPS Suicide Prevention, PSNI, RNIB, South Eastern Regional College Health & Beauty, Disability Sport NI, the World Jujitsu Federation NI and many others.
