Great variety for Autumn at the Waterside Theatre

THE Waterside Theatre hosts a range of quality arts and entertainment throughout the year such as drama, dance, comedy, live music and children's theatre. It also produces an extensive Education Programme.

The newly refurbished facility caters for all ages from pre-school children to senior citizens. With a capacity of 372, free on-site car-parking, disabled access, a full screen cinema, fully licensed cafe bar and lounge bar, this is the perfect venue for evening entertainment or hosting a conference.

The new autumn programme is now underway. A wide range of excellent shows from award winning drama, musicals, dance and children’s shows are on offer to entice audiences into the Waterside theatre, with state of the art facilities over the autumn months!

With 51 performances it certainly is a packed programme with the new season opening with THE PRIDE, by Jonathan Burgess, that tells the story of what goes on in any band, when they are not on the street. This is followed by an abundance of excellent drama with GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS, a black comedy that draws partly on Mamet’s experiences of life in a Chicago real estate office, The Belvoir Players production of CUPID WORE SKIRTS, is from the pen of Ireland’s favourite comedy playwright, Sam Cree, and IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF HERO’S takes you on a nostalgic journey through World War I and World War II. There is an abundance of comedy with Irene Melaugh’s THE AUL FELLA and a production by Martin O’Brien, TWO LITTLE BOYS.

There is a fantastic mix of music for all tastes from tribute acts such as THE DIAMOND EXPERIENCE, Jeni Jaye as LADY GAGA, THE HUMAN TOUCH, a Bruce Springsteen Tribute, VOLTS – AC/DC Tribute and James Huish & The Michael Buble Tribute Band. There is also Opera’s from North West Opera LA BOHEME and Ignacio Jarquin presents the story of CARUSO AND THE QUAKE. KINTRA will be making their much-anticipated return to the Waterside Theatre with the Royal British Legion and SHOWSTOPPERS 2010 is a 65 strong four-part choir, and it will be the Musical Society’s 21st season of charity concerts. WELB SCHOOL ORCHESTRAS – AUTUMN CONCERT will also be showcasing the work of some of the most talented young musicians, drawn from primary schools and secondary/grammer schools from throughout the western area.

Stand-up comedy trailblazer ROBIN INCE – as seen and heard on Nerdstock, Mock The Week, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, The Now Show, The News Quiz and Loose Ends will be performing at the Waterside Theatre and also nternationally acclaimed Echo Echo will be bringing back the highly acclaimed INTERACTIONS.

Children’s shows at the Waterside Theatre are THE NIGHT RUNNERS from playwright Anne McMaster and the traditional Christmas Panto CINDERELLA from the Grove, which promises to have all the ingredients of great family entertainment.

Cascade Gallery in the Waterside Theatre has landscape artist Niamh Slack exhibiting ''EN PLEIN AIR'', as well as Barbara O’Meara exhibiting ‘A TRIBE OF FLOWERS’.
