Town took advantage of some hesitancy among the BB defenders early on. This setback settled BB and both Willis and Wheatley in the midfield began to get a hold on the game. Up front McConville and Mills began asking questions of the Town defence.

Eventually BB grabbed an equaliser when, following good work on the left by Campbell, the ball fell to McConville on the edge of the box and he coolly slotted home.

The second half saw BB dominate and Town remained a threat on the counterattack. Following perseverance BB eventually got their winning goal in the 85th minute when Campbell, working down the right flank, sent in a fine cross that was turned into his own net by a Town defender.

There was time for one last moment of drama in the game when Stuart Gordon broke free from the BB defence only to see his goal bound effort brilliantly saved by BB keeper McClade.
