Green gym for Greenisland

Carrickfergus Council has applied for £16,000 Public Health Authority funding to establish a green gym at Greenisland Playing Fields.

In a statement, the local authority said it is hoped that work on the gym, featuring six to 10 pieces of equipment, will be complete by the end of March 2014.

Council added: “This will be the fourth outdoor gym in the borough including those already sited at Diamond Jubilee Wood and Blackhead Path in Whitehead, and at Bashfordsland Wood in Carrickfergus. As is the case with the other three, the new gym will be open to the public and free of charge to enjoy,”
