The Knockagh councillor said:“I appreciate that this business case has taken some time to get to this advanced stage, and I welcome the hard work of council staff and particularly Greenisland FC Committee members. In particular, Mervyn Montgomery, Bobby Hadden, Davy Munn and Maurice Peacock from the club committee have carried out tremendous work on behalf of their committee and the community as volunteers to get the Sports NI funding and then negotiate with council on the nitty gritty aspects of the business case. It’s only right that I place their names on record to acknowledge their dedicated voluntary work. The 3G pitch, with associated fencing, floodlighting and shelters was a key commitment of the Greenisland Masterplan.”
