Greysteel Post Office to re-open

GREYSTEEL Post Office is expected to open next month after being closed for almost two months due to "contractual reasons".

The Post Office has been “temporarily” closed since June 16, forcing customers in the village to travel to Ballykelly, Eglinton and Campsie to pay bills and collect their pensions and other allowances. Many residents had to rely on lifts or shell out for taxis and buses.

A Post Office spokesperson said: “Post Office Ltd can confirm that a new agent has been permanently appointed to manage Greysteel Post Office branch. The new agent needs to be fully trained prior to re-opening, which will most likely be towards the end of September.

“In the meantime we are continuing our search for a temporary subpostmaster to enable us to restore immediate service.

“We thank our customers in Greysteel for their continued patience and would like to reassure them that we are making every effort to get their branch re-opened as soon as possible.”
