Griffin is selected as Alliance candidate

David Griffin polled 9.5 per cent in the recent Dromore by-election.

Speaking after his selection he said, “I am delighted to have been chosen as the Alliance candidate for South Down.

“It is important that voters are given the opportunity to vote for a party which is totally committed to a shared future and an end to the sectarian head count.

"I came to Northern Ireland to teach in a model integrated and comprehensive school, full of hope for the future of Northern Ireland.

“The horrors of the Troubles have not dampened my optimism and I believe we must now move forward with courage and imagination.

“The old tribal issues cannot be allowed to hold us back and our politicians must now focus on real politics. In the present economic climate, we need to address the 1.5 billon a year extra it costs us to run a society divided along sectarian lines.

"Together is the only way forward. Vote Alliance , because Alliance Works."
