Grit bin advice from DUP councillor

A LOCAL councillor has urged people living in residential areas where roads aren't gritted to get in touch with Roads Service about the possibility of getting a grit bin for their area.

Speaking to the Times this week, alderman Billy Ball said that the recent cold snap had caused serious problems for motorists and pedestrians in many housing developments around the borough, with icy footpaths being a particular problem for many older people.

“Over recent days we have seen many so-called minor roads not gritted. I have been in touch with the Roads Service to find out how areas can get a grit bin for their area and they have informed me that if residents want a grit bin they must put their request in writing as individual householders.
