Groups can get grants of £1,000

COMMUNITY groups with project ideas that could develop and enhance Londonderry are invited to apply for grants of up to £1000 from the council.

Mayor Aldermann Maurice Devenney said: “The Grant Aid Programme, which is now in its tenth year, aims to deliver a funding programme that builds upon the skills and innovative resources that are available in our local community.

“I encourage all organizations to avail of this funding which no doubt this year will lead to a substantial and worthwhile commitment to enhancing the community.”

A council spokesperson explained: “The 2012/2013 grants are now open for applications from local community organisations covering a wide variety of projects; the full amount can be sought and utilised to deliver the aims and objectives and may also cover the core costs relating to the project.

“Any group within the Derry City Council area is eligible to apply as long as they meet the essential criteria as outlined on the Derry City Council grant aid website.”

Applicants are encouraged to read all the documentation carefully as there has been some general changes made to the conditions of grant aid this year.
