Groups fighting to retain surgery

CHDNI have joined forces with Heartbeat NI to get behind a campaign to save the Paediatric Cardiac Surgery at Royal Victoria Hospital.

Anne Lavery, a prominent member of CHDNI, from Lurgan said: “There’s a petition going round and we have ongoing meetings with local politicians to try and resolve this before it gets to this stage.

“We want them to look at a Belfast-Dublin model.

“We don’t want our children to have to travel across the water for every procedure. It’s not practical or appropriate.

“I understand that some children will have to go to England but to have every surgery and every intervention going over to England is too much.”

A petition is available to sign through Heartbeat NI’s Facebook page.
