Groups to benefit from Community Support Plan

Coleraine Borough Council has made a financial commitment through its Community Support Plan aided by the Department for Social Development to provide financial assistance for community based groups operating in the Coleraine Borough area.

Community Development Officer, Karina McCollum has been greatly encouraged by results from pervious years and is encouraging community and voluntary groups to come forward to benefit from this year’s scheme.

She said: “Coleraine Borough Council’s Grant Aid for Community Organisations Funding Programme 2013-14 aims to improve the capacity and sustainability of communities within the Borough. Council has been delighted by the level of commitment and dedication shown by community organisations in previous years. Council is pleased to be in a position to support local community groups and their projects and is dedicated to assisting our communities.

“The Grant Aid for Community Organisations Funding Programmeis a competitive scheme where organisations and groups will be required to demonstrate how their proposals meet the assessment criteria. The level of grant awarded will depend on how the project meets the assessment criteria and applicants need to be aware that there is no guarantee that successful applicants will receive the full amount applied for but I do hope that as many as possible put forward their proposals.

“There will be one call for applications in this financial year. The closing date for the completed applications is 4pm on Friday 29th March 2013. No late applications will be considered under any circumstances.”
