Guard was threatened with iron bar

A SECURITY guard was threatened by an armed gang one carrying an iron bar during a cash delivery van robbery close to a filling station at Mill Road in Crumlin, on Sunday afternoon.

Police believe that the man was approached by up to four men, shortly before 4pm.

The robbers then made off with the cash box from the van, before escaping in a dark coloured Vauxhall Vectra towards the Ballytromery Road of the village.

The car was found shortly afterwards in the Cumbria Lodge area of the town.

The security guard was not hurt during the robbery but was left badly shaken.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
