Gutters could be a problem

THE 'MAIL' very definitely joined the 'gutter press' this week.

Concerns have been raised over water drainage on the new pavements being put in as part of the public realm works.

The gullies which allow water to drain onto the road stop lower down against the kerb, meaning the water collects and does not drain away - leaving puddles.

The contractors, SIAC, were asked for an explanation in regard to the puddles, but at time of going to press have yet to respond.

Meanwhile work around the town ground to a halt on Monday afternoon.

A site meeting was called last week for Monday afternoon and because senior managers were to attend the work could not continue and the workers packed up early.
