Hair-raising antics for Pink charity bid

sponsored female head shaves and male leg waxing are just two of the ways that colleagues in Larne’s Asda store hope to raise at least £4,000 for the Tickled Pink breast cancer campaign.

Now in its 16th year across the UK, Asda’s Tickled Pink campaign benefits two breast cancer charities – Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Campaign. Since it started, the supermarket giant’s work has raised over £29 million.

This is the second year that the Larne public have had the chance to support the charity effort through the local store and over the past fews weeks an amazing £2,000 has already been raised through the sale of Tickled Pink Bingo dabbers and raffle tickets.

“We’d love to get another £2,000 to take our total to over the £4,000 mark,” said Kim Gault, Asda Larne’s Community Life champion.

On Saturday, November 24 there will be fundraising right through from 2pm in the store itself and then in the evening at the Olderfleet Bar. During the day one female colleague will be having her hair shaved and another losing around 10” of her glorious locks. A male colleague, meanwhile, has volunteered to have his legs waxed.

From 7.30pm there will be a Ladies Night upstairs in the Olderfleet Bar with make-up and Forever Living demonstrations, an Ann Summers party and a male auction. Tickets, priced £5, are available from Kim Gault in store.
