Three Year 8 pupils at Parkhall College have had their hair cut to be donated to the Little Princess Trust.

Amilee Shortt was inspired to take action following the loss of family members to cancer.

Along with her friends Emma Wilson and Beth Whiteside, the girls set about fundraising for the Little Princess Trust, culminating in them have a combined total of 33.5 inches cut of their hair.

On Friday, the three girls had their haircut in assembly in front of year 8, 9 and 10 pupils.

Amilee had 14” cut off her hair by Miss McLoughlin; Emma had 12.5” cut off by Jenny Hyde (school counsellor) and Beth had 7” cut by Mrs Cunningham.

Before the event the girls had organised several activities to raise money.

They sold raffle tickets to win a jar of sweets, they had “Guess the Number of sweets” in the jar and they also held a bun sale.

The girls raised a fantastic amount of money – over £1000.

This money will pay for the making of wigs and hopefully help some young people as they go through the cancer treatment by providing them with a wig.
