Hale presses for weight restriction in village

Local DUP MLA, Mrs Brenda Hale has continued to press the Minister for Regional Development on what Progress had been made in the development of a proposal to apply weight restrictions towards the removal of extraneous heavy good vehicles from the centre of Hillsborough Village.

Mrs Hale stated that “it was important to ensure that since the commitment by the Minister on the 16th February 2015 to apply a weight restriction in the area that proposal would be completed.

“I do have some worries that since agreement to apply a weight restriction in the area the timeline agreed by officials has began to slow and more needed to be done to ensure that it progressed in a timely manner.”

Mrs Hale has asked the Minister a number of questions to give his assurances that the proposal for the applied weight restriction will be fully developed and any costs associated with the proposal will have the necessary funding and resource applied to them. The proposed weight restriction in Hillsborough will ensure that only those heavy vehicles required for servicing local facilities will be able to enter Hillsborough and the surrounding rural road network.

Mrs Hale further added that “many residents were waiting on the consultation process to begin so as to ensure that the process for the applied weight restriction would happen sooner rather than later. “
