Hall together now at Harryville!

IT was all hands to the pumps when Harryville Primary School's assembly hall received a very welcome facelift recently.

Local firms gathered to lend their skills to the project which was organised through Business in the Community’s local Business Leadership Network (BLN), the school received some ‘TLC’ as the assembly hall was transformed from a bland beige to lively array of colour.

Beautiful murals including the brightly painted school mascot, Harry the Lion transformed the room.

Local businesses, who form the BLN, came together to complete the task and worked collectively to deliver a fantastic result. The hard work was delivered by volunteers from the Patton Group, Michelin, Wrightbus, Larne Town Development and Ledcom.

Local paint suppliers Johnson Paints generously donated all paints and equipment on the day to make the transformation possible.

Ken Nelson, Chief Executive from Ledcom acted as Team Leader for the day and commented: "It was a tremendous team building experience for everyone involved inspired by a great school and Principal. Remembering what the assembly hall looked like before we started, it’s hard to believe how much it has changed.

“I thoroughly enjoyed working with volunteers from other businesses and hope I can get involved in another project very soon.”

Lesley Meikle, Principal from Harryville Primary School was thrilled by the community spirit shown on the day:

“For our school and our pupils, this ‘new’ assembly hall represents not just a lick of paint, but much, much more. To have business volunteers give up valuable time and show a genuine interest in our school is fantastic.

“It sets a very positive example to our children and our teachers and the revamped hall will now be an area of pride within our school. Our thanks to everyone involved.”
