Hallowe’en launch of epic peace journey

TYRONE man Paul Mack is asking the people of Londonderry to come and take part in the unique Hallowe’en launch of an epic journey to bring a message of love, hope, change and kindness around the world.

Down and out and on the verge of committing suicide by throwing himself in front of a train in Sydney in 1999 the kind intervention of a local poliewoman changed the Dungannon man’s life forerver.

Now on a mission to bring an incredible peace blanket - created by children from all over the world - around the globe in time for presentation at the 2016 Olympic games in Brazil, he is looking for help from local people.

The aim of the project is to send a very powerful and beautiful message around the globe and to raise awareness and empathy on issues such as youth drug abuse and youth suicide.

He explains: “I want to ask as many schools as possible to dress up and come along to the assembly point at the Council offices on Hallowe’en and to help carry the blanket. The blanket is quite large. It’s 100 metres long by 3.5 metres.

Northern Ireland is launching this. Basically, it goes through 160 countries and major cities. After the launch at the Hallowe’en parade it goes to Dublin and then it goes to Edinburgh and all over - 160 cities. We will then present it at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Brazil.”
