Hammer-wielding robber targets toy shop

At around 8.15pm a man armed with a hammer entered the Toys R Us store and grabbed a male member of staff and demanded to know where the safe was. He then threatened a female member of staff but when resisted he made off empty handed in the direction of Bawnmore.

The man is described as being approximately 6ft tall, had a shaved head and was wearing a dark coloured top, dark bottoms with white stripe and grey trainers.

None of the staff were injured but were left shaken by the incident.

Detectives have appealed for anyone with information which could help officers identify the suspect to contact CID at Newtownabbey on 101. Information can also be passed on anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
