Handbag stolen from car at Bellaghy

Police in Magherafelt are asking local people to ensure that their vehicles are locked and that valuable items are removed when they are left unattended.

The advice follows a number of incidents in recent months in which items have been stolen from cars in places like church car parks and beauty spots.

In the most recent incident, a handbag was stolen from a car at the old graveyard at St Mary’s Chapel on the Ballyneese Road, Bellaghy.

The owner parked her vehicle at approximately 5:45pm on Monday, and returned 10 minutes later to find that her cream and brown handbag had been stolen through an open passenger window.

Information can be given on the police non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, it can be provided to the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
