St Pauls College, Kilrea has been the first school within Coleraine Borough Council area to successfully complete a six week training course on ‘Hands off my Friend’, delivered by the Ballymoney Community Resource Centre.

Students participated in a series of workshops designed to educate young people about prejudice, to explore stereotyping and discrimination, and to raise awareness of hate crime and its impact on victims.

Facilitator, Angela Mulholland said: “The course also gives us an opportunity to raise awareness of the action which should be taken when confronted with hate crime, either as a witness or a victim, and to increase the reporting of hate crime through the use of the Hands Off My Friend App.

“This App makes it very easy to get in touch, find support and report hate crimes in Northern Ireland.”
