Happitots celebrate tenth anniversary

The group, held from 10.30am to 12 noon each Friday at Church of God, had only 15 parents and 15 toddlers when it began in April 2001 and now boasts an average of 35-40 parents and 50 toddlers each week.

Lorraine Patterson, one of five group leaders, said,”A diverse group of parents and toddlers come to Happitots. We have single and married parents from a variety of religious backgrounds and the children range from newborn to preschool age.”

There are a lot of things to keep children who attend entertain. There are tricycles, bicycles, coupe cars and many sit-on-top toys. Moreover there are baby toys, slides and even a roller coaster!

Lorraine said,”We made a point of celebrating the tenth anniversary of Happitots because it is an important milestone. We had a party with a beautiful cake and everybody had a lot of fun.”

She added,”I have thoroughly enjoyed being a group leader at Happitots for the last ten years. The most rewarding part has been meeting so many different parents. For example, Helen McBride is a parent who has attended the group since it began. It’s truly remarkable.”

Happitots Parent and Toddler group is held each Friday between 10.30am and 12 noon at Church of God. All parents and toddlers are very welcome to attend.
