Happy ending for ‘Marley’

Following a call by a member of the public, this one-year-old pup was found in good health but in poor condition.

Catherine McNally, Environmental Officer at Coleraine Council said, “The dog arrived at Council’s Pound Facility in desperate need of grooming. He was not micro-chipped nor holding any form of identification.

“The dog remained at the pound unclaimed and after five days he was put up for rehoming at Grahams Kennels. Margaret at the kennels did a wonderful job grooming the dog and I’m glad to confirm he has now been successfully rehomed to a happy and loving family.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to advise everyone of the responsibilities that come with owning a dog. This situation highlights the need for dog owners to make financial provision for their pets to cover not only food and vets bills but grooming costs also.

“I am now appealing on behalf of Council that if anyone has difficulties looking after their dog to please contact a member of Council’s Dog Warden Team. A Council Warden will then arrange to call and pick up your dog.

“I’d also like to remind dog owners that they are liable for a fixed penalty fine and could face prosecution if they allow a dog to stray, have no licence or identification.”
