'Harassment' charge woman is bound over

A BALLYMENA woman who harassed another woman over a six month period has been bound over to keep the peace for 18 months, on her own bail of £750.

In a deferred case, Daniella Termonia (21), of Dalriada Walk, admitted a harassment charge, at Ballymena Magistrates Court.

The court was told that between August 2008 and February 2009, Termonia had regularly come into the injured party’s place of work, following her around the store and calling her names.

On one occasion, Termonia made a complaint to the woman’s manager, alleging that the injured party had pushed her down the stairs in the shop.

The injured party also told police that Termonia would shout names and abuse at her while the injured party was out shopping in the town centre.

In one instance, the verbal abuse was so bad that a member of the public asked the injured party if she was OK.

Barrister Richard Smyth said there had been no repeat of the incidents during the period of deferral, while Termonia was awaiting sentencing.

He said Termonia’s involvement had stemmed from a dispute between the defendant’s older sister and the injured party but the issues had been resolved in a face-to-face meeting between the parties.

“There was a coming together and a fairly open and honest exchange and apologies were issued,” added Mr Smyth.

Binding Termonia over the keep the peace and be of good behaviour, District Judge Des Perry warned her: “Do not annoy or harass anybody, certainly not this young woman.”
