Harmony Hill pupils at Titanic

Pupils from Harmony Hill Primary School joined their counterparts from the Republic of Ireland and the USA to participate in a Titanic-themed interactive fieldtrip – all possible thanks to the leading edge technologies which are transforming teaching and learning today.

Hosted live from Titanic Belfast by C2k/Capita and NEELB.tv (The North Eastern Education and Library Board’s Educational Television Service), the event was part of a series of ‘virtual’ field trips which literally bring the venue and the experts direct to the classroom.

The initiative introduced schoolchildren to journalist and renowned Titanic expert, Mike McKimm whom they questioned on his experiences of visiting the wreck of the Titanic on the floor of the Atlantic. Also fielding questions were Titanic Belfast’s Education Officer, Siobhan McCartney and Ocean Exploration expert Susan Heaney.

David Huntley, from Capita, who hosted the event said: “The Titanic is a uniquely Belfast story and it’s fantastic that C2k can share this ‘virtual field trip’ with pupils.”
