Harry gets set for top event

A Banbridge youngster has been selected to represent Ireland at the Federation of International Skiiing Borrufa Trophy as part of Ski Club Ireland.

Harry McDowell, 14, from Banbridge (left) was joined by fellow Ski Club Ireland team mates Jordan Hanna , 15 from Carryduff (back) and Jack Pang, 14 from Holywood to get some last minute practice in at Northern Ireland’s only indoor ski centre - We Are Vertigo- located at Newtownbreda Factory Estate Belfast, competition which is being held in Andorra this week.

Harry and his two NI team mates were selected to represent Ireland as part of Ski Club Ireland at the event.

The competition is an annual alpine skiing competition for 13-16yrs and is one of the most prestigious and important races on the FIS international junior race circuit.

The Borrufa Trophy is considered one of the most important and prestigious trials on the calendar of the FIS.

A total of 26 countries have registered for this year’s event, which has over 200 racers.

For the second consecutive year, the children called to take part in the Borrufa Trophy are those of the U14 (13/14-year old) and U16 (15/16-year old) categories.
