Harvest time at Drumbeg

Harvest Sunday was a day of sincere blessing in the life of the Parish Church of St Patrick Drumbeg.

The Word of the Lord was ministered by Rev Dr Jacob Thomas and Rev Adrian McLernon.

The morning service had an international flavour in a number of ways. Firstly the guest preacher Rev Dr Jacob Thomas came from the Church of South India. The Harvest offering was set aside for a Water and Sanitation Project (WatSan) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

A cheque for £1400, raised by the Choir’s Music in May events, was presented to Tracey McCausland of the Hillsborough based zero cost charity Struggle Against Muscular Dystrophy (SAM).

This Harvest service, in which the harvest of God’s Word was celebrated, was an appropriate moment to dedicate the gift of new Pew Bibles. The Bibles were kindly donated in memory of the late Isobel Grant, by her husband Billy and daughter Denise.

The message of a celebration of the Harvest of the Field and the Harvest of Word was illustrated by Michael and Marty Boyd in one of the windows of the Nave; the Holy Bible sitting proud surrounded by the fruits and vegetables of creation.
