Have a ‘butchers’ at this!

For the past three years, Tony Osborne, has set up a barbecue outside his Main Street premises and in return for a tasty burger, locals were asked to make a donation.

Needless to say, business was brisk at last Saturday’s venture and when all the money was totted up, Tony and his team of helpers were able to present a cheque for £1507 to Diane Fairley representing the Danske Bank.

It was the highest amount raised by Tony and he was delighted with the outcome, heaping all the praise for the success on his staff and volunteers who had begun preparation work at 5 a.m.

Accepting the cheque, Ms. Fairley said it was a worthy effort by all involved and added that the Children In Need organisers would be thrilled with the donation.

Tony has stressed that any pats on the back should be directed towards his staff including James Gardiner, Simon Osborne and Paul Kirgan. He has also acknowledged the very valuable contributions of his wife, Sharon, Ann Lindsay, David McIlmoyle, Wendy Pickering, Emily Osborne, Cassie Hunter and Caitlin Farrell.

“It’s great to be able to see a new record amount raised,” Tony told the Times.

He added: “Everyone played a big part, but nothing would have been successful had it not been for the support of the general public. We owe them everything.”
