Have a cuppa for charity at Starbucks at The Outlet

Starbucks at The Outlet are taking part in the company’s ‘Suspended Coffee’ scheme.

The idea, which will mean a coffee is donated to a local foodbank, came about after a story about suspended coffees being left for homeless people in the States went viral on Facebook.

Facebook users will be familiar with the concept which means that when a customer buys a coffee for themselves, they can also buy a ‘suspended coffee’, which will be given to someone who cannot afford to buy coffee themselves.

When Starbucks launched the ‘suspended coffee’ concept in its local stores, it changed it slightly so that when a customer buys a ‘suspended coffee’ that coffee is donated to a local foodbank and is distributed to those in need in local communities.

Starbucks have teamed up with the charity ‘Crisis’ for the campaign, which has been inspired by the Italian tradition.

The ‘Suspended Coffee’ campaign will run throughout the festive season with customers able to purchase a suspended coffee at £2.25 which is matched by Starbucks and donated to charity.

“Since we became the first and only high street coffee company to embrace the spirit of suspended coffee in the UK we have been delighted by our customers’ enthusiasm for the scheme,” said Ian Cranna, VP Marketing, Starbucks UK.

“We’re really pleased we can all come together to ‘Share the Warmth’ and benefit these causes at Christmas.”

The Banbridge branch have always been charity minded, with the team running the Belfast marathon in May for Age Concern.

The store has also supported Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children by supplying coffee for a fundraising event.

Starbucks recently held learning days in-store for Banbridge Academy, talking to business students about Starbucks the brand, customer service and interview skills.
